Description
Follow along step by step, and make a complete Future Bass track from start to finish. Along the way you will learn all the techniques and skills you need to be able to make your own Future Bass tracks.Watch the course overview for more details, and to listen to the track you will make. This is an in depth course that will take you step by step through the process of making this track. As you progress through the course you will learn everything from how to come up with initial ideas, how to develop those ideas, how to make your music emotive (you don’t need to play an instrument or have any prior music theory knowledge), all the way through to arranging, mixing and mastering.Note: This course is made so it can be followed along in any DAW, but that will require you already know your way around your DAW of choice, so when I mention using EQ for example, you will know where to go in your DAW to be able to replicate the same settings. This is not a course for complete beginners, but even beginners with some knowledge should be able to follow along. All audio, MIDI, presets are provided, and only free/common instruments/plugins are used so you don’t need any special software to complete the course. All you need is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)Here is a more in depth description of what you’ll get out of the course.Module 1 – Future Bass BeatIn this Future Bass tutorial, you’ll get making music straight away, building the foundation of your track. You’ll learn how to create modern, future bass style drums and how to create a complex sounding drum pattern out of simple and repeatable steps. The whole idea with this drum beat, is that it provides a big amount of energy to the chorus sections of the track, so it’s important to get the drums sounding as ‘direct’ as possible, using various techniques. We’ll also use a couple of simple loops to enhance the drum beat. Using various techniques, we’ll get them to fit perfectly with our self-created beat. These techniques are transferable to any other beat in any track.Module 2 – Future Bass MelodyWith the melody playing such a vital role in the track, it is really important that you understand how to create and enhance emotional and engaging chord progressions, that you can then use to make any number of musical parts for your track. We’ll cover the basics of how to make your chords sound ‘Future Bassy’, but we will go much further and show you how to create emotion inducing and deep sounding chord progressions. We start with simple triads in a 4/5 bar chord progression and then, using easy to repeat steps, make that into something much more complex and emotive. The key with the melody is to create something that has a sense of tension and release.Module 3 – Sound DesignWith so many producers in the world today, it is important to stand out from the crowd. Throughout this tutorial you will learn how to be unique, by learning how to design your own sounds from scratch. We use an incredible (and completely FREE) synthesizer called ‘Vital’. Available for all platforms and all DAW’s.There are a total of 10 sounds created from the ground up in this tutorial; a number of leads, bass sounds, dirty bass sounds, even down-filter and riser SFX sounds. We also provide all the presets as a ‘Vital Preset Pack’ with the tutorial, so you can just load them up if you are not interested in sound design. We also provide all the samples, and stems, to make this as accessible as possible no matter what DAW you are using.Module 4 – Creating Arrangements You Can’t Stop Listening ToGreat song structure is massively important when it comes to creating that subtle sense of ‘push and pull’ that keeps a listener engaged with your music. You’re going to learn what makes great song structure and how you can use the tension and release of the different sections to tell a story that will keep the listener engaged and coming back for more, over and over again. We’ll be using various song structure techniques and concepts to do this, along with using (and even creating) SFX sounds to help keep the track evolving and generating tension and release between the different sections.Module 5 – Powerful VocalsThe vocal is, of course, one of the main elements of the track, and so it is incredibly important that it conveys and enhances the energy of the track. In this comprehensive module you will learn how to find singers to work with, great tips on getting the most out of the singer, whether working together in the studio or over the internet, recording tips and more. You’ll learn how to enhance and correct the performance, using techniques like comping and pitch correction, creating doubled takes and so on.Once the performance is nailed, you will then learn how to process the vocal with the standard effects you have in your DAW, like compression, EQ, and De-essing.Module 6 – Mixing & MasteringLastly, you will learn the key skills needed to make sure all your mixes are as effortless as possible. Once you understand this, you will find mixing so much easier and fun that it will seem like you are running cheat codes.Of course we will go through and mix the entire track and you will follow along with the whole process as we do it, learning all about the various techniques and why and when to use them in your own mixes.Although your skills with compression, EQ, and other processes are only 20% of what makes a great mix, you will learn how to use them, but more importantly where and when to use them.
